Outline:

A highly practical course delivered by UK vocational experts designed for crime laboratory practitioners and scientists who will undertake the reception, recording of evidence and findings during examination of material. Most value is achieved by those who have previously received forensic awareness, crime scene photography and crime scene management training.

Course Modules:

• Laboratory forensic awareness and contamination
• Digital SLR camera familiarisation and use of automatic settings
• Manual settings – exposure and depth of field
• Use of copy stands
• Use of light sources, health and safety
• Use of filters
• Use of light, flash photography and limited lighting conditions
• Record photography – techniques and procedures
• Specialist photography – fingerprints, toolmarks and manufacturing marks
• Close up, macro, super macro and microscopic photography
• Continuity, integrity, recording, and presentation of photographic evidence
