Fluorescent Latent Fingerprint Powders

Fingerprint Development:

Fluorescent Latent Powder

Fluorescent Powders have been available for some time but the potential has only recently been acknowledged as a useful every day tool. At SceneSafe we have been communicating with our customers on the use of fluorescent powders in corporation with our Scene Torch. Used together they can achieve significant detail at night or in a darkened room or lab to reveal very significant ridge detail through illiumination. Utilising filters can remove the background allowing the print to become the single focus and making capturing a clear visible image is easy.

Fluorscent powdering is becoming a standard method to recover fingerprints when traditional powders just wont do. This development enables both field and lab processing without expensive forensic light sources so any CSI in the field can start to produce light enhanced fingerprints with minimal expense.

This fingerprint was developed using a zephyr brush and SceneSafe Green Fluorescent Powder and enhanced with a standard torch with coloured light. Photographed with a macro lens to show first level detail. When zoomed in the defintion on 2nd & 3rd level detail is excellent.
